Have you read a “Joy Book” lately?

My wife posted on facebook today:

Jackson, seeing the book I am sneaking moments to read “Mom, is this a joy book?” Me “What?!?” J “You know, a joy book or is this for book club?” Me “I am not sure I understand.”  J “A joy book, one you are just reading for joy or one you “have” to read?”  That coming from J who says he doesn’t like reading,  Joy is exactly what it is!

First of all I have to say that is one of the coolest things I have ever heard and the fact that is came from soon to be 11 year old son makes it even better.  But it got me thinking; have I read a “Joy Book” lately?  The answer is yes.  I am reading

I became a christian and all I got was this lousy T-shirt by Vince Anotucci

and Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge.

Both of these books have profoundly impacted me over the past few weeks.  I have been struggling spiritually and these two men have encouraged me tremendously.  They have both helped me see things for what they really are and not the way the enemy is trying to make me think.  The enemy has been ALL OVER ME lately and I am so thankful for these two men and their ministry and gifts that God has given them.  Vince and John are fabulous communicators.

Thank you to John and Vince for helping restore my joy in Jesus and God.  These two have been “Joy Books” for me.  I hope you are reading a “Joy Book.”  If you are reading one or have just finished one I’d love to hear about it.

Thank you Jackson for putting an emotion into words.  You bring  joy to my life.

Your book cracked me up and made me think all at the same time. I didn’t know you all had relocated to Las Vegas. We were in Vegas this summer and went to church. My wife and I would have loved to worship with the good folks at Verve.

I appreciate the response. Looking forward to the next book:)
