It is back to school time.
Last week our best friends dropped their son off at college. He is the oldest, so this was a ‘first’ experience for them.
Excitement typically runs high for the student during this time, but the parents’ emotions are a little more subdued. A sense of loss is certainly present, but my friends’ emotions were full of fear and doubt. “Is he ready?” they wondered. “Did we do all that we needed for him to be prepared?” they asked with tears in their eyes. I wish I could have given them the answers they wanted, but the truth is, we don’t know. We don’t know if our children are prepared for the real world until they get out there and experience it.
Here’s a video from Brad Fordsma and I Like Giving that will warm your heart and give you hope for the often maligned “millennials”. I hope I am raising my kids to be like this. These boys’ parents did an awesome job. These kids were ready. Enjoy!
