I’ll show you!

It’s Christmas time and we have an 11 year old and an 8 year old.  So, the sense of wonder and amazement is still alive and well in our home.  Like many parents in recent years we have an “Elf on the Shelf” to ‘watch over our kids’ during the days leading up to Christmas.  (I never thought I would get so sucked into commercialism surrounding the Christmas season!  I digress.)

Well, this year my 8 year old daughter, Anabelle, decided that she wanted a girl elf to look after her instead of just having Jacob.  Jacob came on the scene before Anabelle was born.

SO, I got sucked into the commercialism at another level.  Allow me to introduce Ella to you.

We now have TWO elves!!!!!

After Ella came on the scene Anabelle decided to begin writing letters to Ella and Jacob and fully expecting a reply.  On night #1 the letter was very sweet but it was a bit difficult to read as Anabelle’s handwriting has a bit to be desired.  The elves commented on the difficulty in reading the letter from Anabelle.  The next night’s letter was a bit better and the elves praised her, but commented yet again on how it needed to continue to improve and maybe she should write on paper with lines.  This went on for a few nights.  The elves quit commenting on the handwriting a few nights ago, but the letters from Anabelle stopped.

After two days of her not writing her mother asked her today why she stopped.  She said “I just stopped writing.”   Well tonight the elves received this letter in response to the elves letter asking her about what she was asking for from Santa and if Anabelle had any Christmas traditions in her family.  Notice anything?

My girl has an attitude.  It will take her a LONG way in life.  She is my girl.
